Most ECG apps ship a fixed library of tracings. Work through it twice and you stop reading the strip: you start recognising the picture. This app generates every strip from scratch, so the same rhythm looks different every time and cannot be memorised.
Because it is generated rather than drawn from a library. That is the point: real hearts vary, and recognising a rhythm means reading the findings rather than recalling a picture. In the feedback after each answer there is a button that generates another strip of the same rhythm, so you can see this for yourself.
Yes. Open the Rhythms tab and select the set you are being tested on. Questions, and the wrong answers offered alongside them, are drawn only from that set.
Pinch the strip to zoom in and count the small boxes, then double-tap to reset. One small box is 0.04 seconds at the standard 25 mm/s. Turning the phone sideways shows the full six seconds at once.
The amount of recording artifact. Clean is the textbook tracing. Realistic adds the baseline wander and muscle noise of a cooperative patient. Noisy is the strip nobody trains on and everybody eventually gets. The rhythm underneath is identical, so you can switch between them on the same strip.
Entirely. The app never uses the network.
Please write in, and say which rhythm and what you would have expected. Clinical accuracy matters more than anything else in the app, and a correction from someone who teaches this is worth more than any feature request. This is a small independent app, so replies may take a while, but corrections are read.

We do not collect any data.
ECG Rhythms: Practice Strips does not collect, store, transmit or share any personal information. There are no user accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no third-party software development kits.
Every ECG tracing is generated on your device by a mathematical model. No tracings are downloaded and none are uploaded. The app functions entirely offline and makes no network requests of any kind.
Your study progress, your selected rhythms and your display preferences are saved on your device so the app remembers them between sessions. This information never leaves your device and we cannot see it. Deleting the app deletes all of it.
The app collects no data from anyone, including children under 13.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new date.
This app is for education and exam preparation. It is not a medical device, it does not diagnose any condition, and it must not be used for clinical decisions or patient care. Every waveform in it is synthetic and no patient data is involved at any point.
